I love planning parties for DS and DD. I keep a notebook where I jot down possible party themes and ideas. Right now we are planning DS's space/astronaut theme party for his April Birthday. I'm sure there will be an AG party sometime in DD's future. On a side note I plan years in advance for parties and have even had relatives joke that I have already started planning for Jillian's wedding. LOL. Really haven't gotten that far ahead but I love the Bell shaped pinata in the Samantha movie where the flower girls pull the ribbons and the rose petals fall out. We have The American Girls Party Book and it has some wonderful ideas in it. We also have some other AG craft books and cookbooks that have great ideas. But...I'd love to hear some tried and true party ideas from the HB members.

Back when I was a mentor, my Little Sister and I had themed AG parties. One year we celebrated with a Josefina theme, and the next was Kirsten. Each time I looked online to find activities and foods that would be appropriate. It was so much fun! [img]smile.gif[/img]

With your daughter currently saving for Kirsten, a Kirsten themed party would probably be pretty fun. There was a site I found with excellent pioneer party games, crafts, and recipes different from the ones AG books mention. If you are interested, I can try to find it for you. It was a few years back, so hopefully it's still online!

Pinatas! Pinatas with lots of candy! You can make your own with a large balloon, too (paper mache and the salt dough). It's fun to watch the kids twirl around and look silly (and it's even funnier when they whack an adult who is standing too close upside the head). I recommend using one of those plastic bats. When my DS15 had his summer birthday party between kindergarten and first grade, we had a ton of kids in the backyard and they went absolutely crazy when we had them play musical chairs and the only music used was M-m-m-bop by Hanson. They never wanted to quit playing, or hear the song quit playing, and my husband and I were laughing so hard because they were just whipped into a frenzy rooting around those chairs and with that infectious song!!

I am currently in the process of planning an American Girl Tea party for Girls and Dolls for 60. We are going to make Fimo Doll Cookies, Doll Lolipops, and maybe something else.

For my DD's 9th birthday party last month we had an AG Pajama Party. We did tons of stuff but, had a ton more that we didn't get to! I didn't get all the pics that I should have because we were having so much fun I'd forget about taking pics!!!!

Melissa, I'd love the website info. on ideas for a Kirsten party if you can find it. A pioneer party would be GREAT for us. We love Kirsten and Little House on the Prairie.

Ashley, Your AG tea party sounds like a lot of fun. How are you making the lollipops?

DD B-Day is next month and I too am trying to come up with some ideas. We are having a sleepover for 5-6 girls.

Anyone have a great idea for AG invites?

We had a fimo party play date with 3 of my daughters friends. They really had a blast. I went to the dollar store and bought rolling pins, michaels had a 50 % off coupon for the Fimo kit (this came with many different colors) I used to coupons and bought a package of doll sized cookie cutters. The girls came up with some really fun stuff to make, cookies, a Big Mac, french fries, apples bananas , each one got to bring what they made home. I took a few hours from begining to end with making , cooking and painting , the girls really had a blast and they were all very proud of what they made. The bonus was that they had something to take home with them. My dd is 10 and so were her friend!!
